Nikaya Villas in Legian is a tiny secret contemporary haven of sorts; one could drive right by the property and miss it altogether save for a rather inconspicuous sign in black mounted at the fringes of a car park. Its garden theme is unmistakably evident as one strolls along the corridors and bears witness to the luxuriant landscape of trees and various cultivated greenery.
Its range of villas articulate an interesting conflict between being purposefully spartan design-wise and yet never compromising on the provision of creature comforts. Certainly caters to minimalists seeking an uncluttered, superbly laid-back approach as far as the act of holidaying is concerned.

• A sprawling two-storey shopping complex which stocks souvenirs, clothes and a large selection of food items can be found almost immediately behind the property.

• For health nuts, we recommend Gourmet Cafe @ Dewi Sri which is approximately 10 minutes away on foot. In particular try the grilled fish of the day served in pesto sauce, vegetarian minestrone soup and "fitness plate" comprising red rice, chicken breast and boiled broccoli.
